Sasaki won the 2010 Japan Prize of Agricultural Science
The Association of Japanese Agricultural Scientific Societies (AJASS) awarded the 2010 Japan Prize of Agricultural Science (Nihon Nougaku Shou) to Dr. Takuji Sasaki, currently the vice-president of the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (NIAS). The award was in recognition of Dr. Sasaki's achievements and pioneering research on rice genome sequencing and it's applications. As the first cereal crop to be accurately sequenced, the high-quality rice genome sequence has made a great impact in agriculture and plant biology.
The award presentation ceremony was held on April 5, 2010 at Sanjo Conference Hall of Tokyo University in conjunction with the 81st Grand Meeting of the Association of Japanese Agricultural Scientific Societies and 47th Yomiuri Agriculture Award Ceremony .
